It can be difficult enough to love those who are love-able (cute kids, puppies, people with awesome personalities.......) but if we are collectively under the belief that love is winsome and conquers all, that means we have to exercise doing something very difficult. We must first love those who are hard to love (cats, abrasive folk, people who are constantly surrounded by drama). And then we must do the opposite of what is hard-wired within our bodies. We must love the un-lovable in order to prepare ourselves to love even our enemy. That doesn’t mean we must share our lives with our enemy, it simply means there can be no room for a visceral hatred toward them in our hearts. So I ask this simple but deeply challenging question- Who do you need to love?
